WLB Promotions presented Dancehall King 2004 on Saturday 11 September 2004 @ Rhythms in Indigo, Huddersfield, UK

Daintycrew.com arrived at the venue just in time for round one to start after experiencing some car trouble en route to Huddersfield. Robbo Ranx had announced this was the Bogle round and the first contender was attempting something, but the crowd were not sure what it was. This continued and boos could be heard until one contestant who called himself Ugly blew the crowd away as he bent over backwards almost touching the floor.

Initially there had been eight contestants, but a late entrant was Young Lion from Gloucester who had just arrived not long after Daintycrew.com. He bust his Bogle moves, got the crowd on his side and along with five others, went through to round two – Log On.

There were all versions of Log On being done and the crowd had their view on each. Troy from Manchester was getting huge forwards for his moves as was Sheffield’s Snoop representing London and Rado from Manchester. Nottingham’s Bobo Adigun was eliminated from this round after admitting to Daintycrew.com that he felt he has not done as well as he could of which he put down to losing his footing. So, it was down to five for round three – Summer Bounce and Scoobay.

In this round, each dancer had to ensure they did part of each dance before their time was up, but unfortunately Ugly didn’t seem to heed the rules and only did the Scoobay. The crowd were asked whether he showcased the dances, they answered no and he was disqualified leaving four to go onto round four.

When it came time for the crowd to vote off the next contestant, there was some confusion as to what Robbo was asking them to do. He wanted silence if they wanted the person to stay in or a resounding “clear” if the crowd wanted them to go. It was down to Troy from Manchester or Young Lion from Gloucester and after some deliberating between the judges and the compere, the crowd were able to make their decision and kept Troy in the running.

Round five’s line up was Troy from Manchester, Snoop from London and Rado. They each chose their preferred tune for their freestyle round and after much messing around the soundmen finally located the ‘Scoobay’ for Troy and he did some Shankle Dip And Jiggy before Rado got ‘Crazy Hype’. He started with the Mad Run, did the Crazy Hype and was getting booed even though he ended on a back flip.

Snoop requested ‘Jiggy’ and kicked off the Scooby Doo before Crazy Hype and Shankle Dip. He was getting huge forwards and it was obvious who was in the head to head. Off went Rado and the finalists had a chance to select a tune each and do some more moves for the crowd.

Although Troy was dropping In Her Heart and Flowers A Bloom to ‘In Her Heart’ by Capleton, the crowd were not as moved as they had been with him previously. It was Snoop who won hands down when he started acting like he just got let loose from the mental asylum, Bellevue with his stiff leg walk and fit like shaking. As he landed on the floor convulsing the crowd went wild and basically he dun the place!

Robbo checked whether the crowd had seen enough and they responded that they had, so it was down to Miss Mention to hand over the trophy to Snoop who accepted graciously. He was given the mic and he said open the bar and let all the gal dem get champagne and he then called back Troy to the stage and stated it was all about the dancing and enjoyment. After posing for some photos, some more tunes were spun and a few of the dancers came back to the stage to show off some more moves including the Clear and Chaka Chaka.

The venue started to empty and Daintycrew.com rolled out around 3:30am.
