A Little Love Jimmy London
LABEL: IMPACT/VP
In 1971 Patricia and Vincent Chin of the world-famous Randy’s Records label and
VP distribution network, gave singer Jimmy London the distinction of being the first reggae artist to record in their renowned four-track studio, located in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. The ensuing sessions, produced by eldest son Clive, earned them a number one;
‘Shake A Hand’, and top ten gems such as Simon Garfunkel’s
‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’, The Supremes ‘Come See About Me’, and
'A Little Love’.
Jimmy London’s inspired rendition of classic love songs combined with his easy groove delivery makes him one of the originals of a sound that has become the cornerstone of British Reggae – Lovers Rock. The combination of Jimmy’s mellow vocals, soulful harmonies and refined musical arrangements makes for sophisticated and entertaining listening.
Due to popular public demand, the album, originally titled Bridge Over Troubled
Waters, has been digitally re-mastered from the original master tapes, renamed and re-issued with bonus tracks on the authentic Impact label.
The title track ‘A Little Love’, was chosen to promote London as part of Mayor Ken Livingston’s
‘Totally London’ campaign. This leg of the campaign will run across press, radio and in all London cinemas until the end of February 2004.
Album producer Clive Chin is currently in the UK and is available for interviews.
